The Sanatana Dharma prescribes two stage route towards realization for all human beings.
The Samanya Dharma is the first step and is applicable for all human beings on this earth. The second stage is Vishesha Dharma - prescribed based on special requirements / qualifications / attributes of the person in question. It is specific and helps the person immensely in speeding up his movement towards the final goal. As Samanya Dharma, Vishesha Dharma also does not exclude any one in this world. But because it is not same for all people, and many times, the person will not be able to provide sufficient data to identify the required Vishesha Dharma, it's application becomes difficult. Vishesha Dharma is special according to the requirements of an individual under consideration. The particulars of Vishesha Dharma depends on the stage of the individual in the path of realization - in particular on birth, family traditions, gender, age, and the role of individual in family and society. It is best to take the guidance of the parents and Guru(the teacher) in following the Vishesha Dharma[17].
